Salem Account Passwords

For security purposes, Salem account passwords expire after 270 days; please observe the warning emails about your impending password expiration to avoid losing access to your account.

If your password is expired and you haven't previously used any of the Password Self Service Options or you need any additional help, please email help@salem.edu and someone from Technology Services will help to restore your access.

Password Self Service Options

(Provided by Microsoft)

  1. Change Password - use this before expiration to avoid needing Option 2.
  2. Recover Password - if you've previously used Option 1 and
    • you've forgotten your password or
    • your password is expired

Use your full email address (with @salem.edu) when using these tools.

Password Complexity

Your password must:

  • be at least 9 characters long
  • not have been used before
  • not contain your username (Example: suzi.salem’s password cannot include Suzi, suZI, SALEM, salem, etc.)
  • include:
    • UPPER CASE CHARACTER(s)
    • lower case character(s)
    • number(s)
    • symbol(s), (Examples: $#%!@*_^)
